After enjoying the victories and at the same time having the first contacts with parliamentarians and executives, from next Monday Nikos Androulakis should take his steps redistributing the party’s internal deck and launching his main political movements.
The moment is ideal for PASOK, the election of the leader created positive dynamics and new expectations, the ND is retreating and has its internal tensions, while SYRIZA is in a phase of progressive disintegration.
The latest GPO survey shows PASOK in second place, with improved percentages. With the movements in the party and the reorganization of department heads, Nikos Androulakis, as his colleagues say, “will send the message that PASOK is moving forward united and will form a battle formation for a frontal confrontation with the government and a quasi-official role of the opposition”.
On Monday, Nikos Androulakis is expected to announce changes to the party and on Tuesday to the parliamentary structure. On Friday, the president of PASOK spoke by phone with Anna Diamantopoulou. During the weekend he will have corresponding communication with Pavlos Geroulanos and from Monday with Haris Doukas, whose wedding he will attend on Saturday.
Last week, he saw several deputies in Parliament and spoke to others by phone, as part of the reorganization of sector heads he will carry out. The aim is a form of “parallel government”, as they say, that will monitor ministries and exert pressure on ministers.
Breakfast and political center
Nikos Androulakis will create a political center in which Haris Doukas, Pavlos Geroulanos and Anna Diamantopoulou will participate and will meet at least once a week, possibly more depending on the situation. However, Haris Doukas, according to information, will deal more with the affairs of the Municipality of Athens.
Daily breakfast will bring together the communications team, press representative and strategic planning enriched with executives depending on the political situation. Among the changes he will make, it is considered certain that Evangelia Liakoulis will be replaced as secretary of the Parliamentary Group, although it is not certain by whom.
On the contrary, Odysseas Konstantinopoulos will remain in the position of Vice-President of Parliament, as a different procedure would be necessary for his replacement.
The parliamentary representatives will be Dimitris Mantzos and Panagiotis Doudonis. Pavlos Christidis, who supported him, although he was heard as a parliamentary deputy, will acquire a “strong party portfolio”. Manolis Christodoulakis, who supported Haris Doukas, remains out of the race.
Meeting with Mitsotakis
PENDING is the appointment with the Prime Minister. As the party president’s associates report, they are two people who have an institutional role and in this context it is good to talk. In short, Nikos Androulakis is called upon to utilize PASOK’s potential and secure not only second place, but also convince that it can be an alternative to the Mitsotakis government. Whether PASOK will be able to succeed without openings to the left and center-left is a bet around which the PASOK president will be judged again.
