Some true crime junkies are getting too aggressive, breaking into the Menendez brothers’ old home… and Beverly Hills police are worried about what that could mean for Halloween, TMZ has learned.
Here’s the deal… thanks to a very popular Netflix series and doc… people have been swarming the wealthy Beverly Hills location where Lyle and Erik Menendez brutally murdered their parents in ’89… the pair later claimed it was a response to the severe abuse they suffered throughout their lives.
Police tell TMZ… what they were initially calls from upset neighbors about an increase in pedestrian and car traffic — annoying but not illegal — have now turned into outright hacking… and in one case, an apparent hacking caught on TikTok.
Now… the police are worried that this will turn into a bigger mess with Halloween just around the corner… so discussions are underway about how best to fend off any idiots looking for a scary thrill.
At the moment… the house is empty because it is undergoing major renovations… which has no doubt led to the shameless tourists. It’s definitely not helping that some Hollywood tour buses (but not TMZ!) have added the block to their route… unloading groups of people in the area.
Police have already stepped up patrols in the area to calm angry residents… but we’ve been told more needs to be done as Halloween approaches… perhaps even private security, which is being recommended to homeowners.
TMZ previously reported…The Menendez brothers-inspired costumes have become a hot item this season… so it’s not a stretch to assume that someone out there might be looking for a spooky photo at the location.
One thing is for sure…cops and neighbors hope the Monster Mash is held elsewhere!
