“I will never betray you,” said Stefanos Kasselakis, speaking to SYRIZA executives and members in Kastoria, adding that “we will go to the end, until SYRIZA becomes in practice the party of the members.”
Kasselakis, according to the relevant announcement, went on to state that “it was supposed that two weekends ago we would have concluded our statutory conference, which would have brought about great changes” and that “the biggest of those changes was to stop this factorism and factionalism within the our party.” “By giving you the tools to choose your votes, instead of a balanced political secretariat choosing which candidate to promote based on influence in the local community, you will be able to choose your own candidates, both digitally and by vote,” he added. He said that “anyone can enter the political arena, put themselves on the front line and have a chance, without going through the corner of the president’s office, as was done before”.
“We can see SYRIZA hurt by single-digit percentages and say it is unlikely to ever recover. I assure you that the more open politics in the country will see the response from society,” he said. He added that “if it appears that there is someone in this place who listens to the citizens, gives them a platform to produce political solutions and makes them feel that your voice is heard, then we will see that society will reward this, especially when I consider that this political solution is progressive and realistic.”
Among those present were Olympia Teligioridou and Efi Michelaki, members of the SYRIZA Executive Committee.
