Former NFL star Eddie Lacy is lucky he didn’t hurt himself or anyone else the night of his drunk driving arrest last month… because cops say he was driving with a blood alcohol level over FOUR TIMES the legal limit.
The Scottsdale Police Department says it all happened on September 30th… after a woman called 911 and told dispatch that someone matching the description of Lacy’s Audi SUV was driving so erratically, she was worried that they were “going to kill someone.”
According to an SPD police report obtained by TMZ SportsThe cops pulled Lacy over in his Q8 shortly after the call came in… and almost immediately, the cops noticed something was wrong with the former Green Bay Packers traffic jam.
“Eddie’s speech was slow,” an officer wrote in the documents, “slurred and mumbled once I started talking to him.”
Body camera footage shows that Lacy appeared to be having trouble formulating smooth, coherent sentences — even after the officer said he recognized him from his playing days with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Lacy, however, was able to say that he had just arrived from Green Bay and was on his way to his girlfriend’s house – which he repeatedly stated was just a few feet away.
But when questioned during the stop… Lacy told one of the officers at the scene that he had been drinking on his flight to Arizona – consuming “a single shot” of tequila.
Eventually, officers pulled Lacy from his ride — and although they were unable to perform a variety of field sobriety tests due to injuries Lacy said he suffered during his football career — they had him blow into a breathalyzer. . which they said produces a result of 0.325.
When asked if he knew what the legal limit was in Arizona, Lacy said yes… pointing out, “I’ve had a bad DUI” in the past. However, Lacy was unable to say whether or not 0.08 was the right number.
Officers then handcuffed the 34-year-old man… and said he was arrested for drunk driving.
Court records show he has been the subject of several criminal charges – including a charge of extreme DUI BAC greater than or equal to 0.20. He is scheduled to face a judge for a hearing on the matter next month.
As Lacy noted in the police video – this isn’t the first time he’s been arrested for extreme DUI… police documents we obtained show in March 2022, he was accused of driving through Scottsdale with a BAC of 0.247.
