The age of the wild food based on movies is about to get even wilder – and a little naughty.
Walmart will sell what they call “Evil Mystery Color Macaroni and Cheese”, inspired by the upcoming film adaptation of the blockbuster Broadway show. The “mystery” here: there are two different versions – pink or green (yes, that’s right, pink or green macaroni and cheese) – but you don’t know which one you have until you add water, which causes the pasta to “transform”.
Here’s how Walmart’s website describe these things:
Add magic to mealtime with our great value Wicked Mystery Color 2.05 oz Macaroni and Cheese Cup! These tasty cups start with creamy, cheesy dough, but the real magic happens when you add water. Watch as the noodles turn a vibrant pink or green color. Perfect for kids and the young at heart, this extravagant meal turns an ordinary lunch into a colorful adventure! Each stable cup contains 1 serving.
Green and pink colors lean towards EvilThe two main characters, the taciturn Glinda (played by Cynthia Erivo) and the cheerful Elphaba (Ariana Grande).

Instagrammer snacolator notes “this will be in stores soon and looks like it’ll cost $1 per microwavable cup…once you mix it up, you’ll find out if you have pink or green mac and cheese.” If there’s one thing kids love, it’s pasta that looks like it’s been covered in Pepto-Bismol.
This isn’t the only food inspired by Evil film. Starbucks will have special Evil drinks — and like this mac and cheese, one is green and the other is pink. They will reportedly be available starting next week.
