The Minister of Justice George Floridis were visited by the president of their Court European Union in Luxembourg, Marc van der Woude, Vice President Savvas Papasavvas, as well as judges – CJEU members Ioannis Dimitrakopoulos and Goulielmos Valassidis.
Floridis, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Justice, informed representatives of the Court of Justice of the European Union about the reforms implemented to modernize the judicial system and the acceleration of the delivery of Justice in our country.
The changes promoted by the government
In more detail, Floridis referred to “the implementation of the new Judicial Charter and the doubling of first instance judges, the new State Council Procedure, as well as the upcoming amendments to the Civil Procedure Code and the Court Organization Code, the which will significantly contribute to reducing the time it takes to issue decisions.”
What did they discuss?
Within the scope of the meeting, “they also discussed ways to improve cooperation and exchange of legal opinions of Greek judges at the Court of Justice of the European Union”.
Finally, “the issue of the presentation of pre-trial questions to the CJEU by the Greek courts was discussed, as well as ways of strengthening this process by strengthening the CJEU’s communication with the Greek judicial system”.
