donald trump mocked his Democratic rivals during his speech at the Al Smith benefit dinner in New York on Thursday night, mocking the senator. Chuck Schumer and candidate for vice president Tim Walz for her support of transgender rights.
With wife Melania looking… the Republican presidential candidate, dressed in a tuxedo, criticized Democrats at the packed dinner – surrounded by New York’s elite, including the mayor Eric AdamsGovernor Kathy Hochuland former mayors Michael Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio.
The famous event is always attended by presidential candidates from both parties before the November elections every four years – with proceeds benefiting Catholic charities in New York. However, the vice president Kamala Harristhe Democratic nominee did not appear on Thursday, citing a scheduling conflict.
Comedian Jim Gaffigan had a less-than-great night at dinner, making a joke about Trump renting the White House to Harris… eliciting little laughter from the crowd.
In the middle of his comedy, DT laughed out loud when he took aim at Senator Schumer… telling the room… “Your party has become so woke that if Kamala loses – you will have the chance to become the first female president.”
Trump also criticized Minnesota Governor Walz, saying… “I used to think Democrats were crazy for saying men don’t menstruate, but then I met Tim Walz.” He was referring to a controversial MN law requiring free sanitary pads in high school bathrooms – which Trump falsely claimed meant boys were forced to use the bathrooms.
Trump took aim at the mayor Eric Adamsjoking… “Nine and a half months ago, I said, ‘You know, he just said something bad about the government. He’s going to be indicted any day now.’ And guess what happened…but you’re going to win.”
For the most part, DT seemed to be selling the pokes as light-hearted fun… but when it came to former Mayor de Blasio, Trump let his contempt shine through… calling him the “worst” leader in the city’s history.
Trump became so nervous at what seemed like an unexpected moment… that he blurted out an expletive at the Catholic children’s charity event, with a cardinal in attendance… saying: “I don’t give a shit whether this is comedy or not. He was a terrible mayor… He did a horrible job, by the way.
Other notable attendees included the Speaker of the House Mike JohnsonNew York Attorney General Letícia James …and RFK Jr.together with his wife, Cheryl Hines.
