Mike Shouhedis entering a diversion program after his then-fiancée’s alleged assault in 2021 Paulina Ben-Cohen …and TMZ obtained shocking video of the violent incident.
The “Shahs of Sunset” alum went to court on Tuesday … where a judge ruled he must enter a year into a mental health diversion program after he was arrested in 2022 and charged with assault and aggression.
An order of protection has also been issued for Paulina and Mike is not to use or threaten force or violence.
Ben-Cohen filed a civil lawsuit against Shouhed earlier this year over the alleged incident… and while she and her lawyer included screenshots of this clip in the lawsuit, this is the first time the full video has been seen. She says this video was also shared with authorities.
In the clip, you see Paulina ripping clothes off a hanger in her closet when a man she says is Mike appears behind her, grabs her by the hair and throws her to the floor as the rack falls on top of her.
He then grabs her, appearing to smother her face while she is on the floor before apparently trying to take her phone away from her. Paulina then throws objects to expel him from the closet.
The video then moves to a children’s playroom, where the man grabs Paulina from behind and puts his arms around her throat, appearing to choke her as he throws her across the room. Paulina responds with several slaps and punches to the face and head.
During the incident, Paulina claims Mike said he would never leave the house again and went to get a firearm… that’s when she says she and their live-in nanny called the police. When they arrived, Mike was arrested after officers said they saw visible marks on Paulina’s body.
According to court documents, prosecutors agreed to allow Mike to participate in a diversion program in 2022, which included anger management classes, community service and a gun safety course. But we’ve been told that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has appealed some of the decisions, which is why he’s only joining the program now.
In the lawsuit, Paulina claims this wasn’t the first time Mike attacked her, claiming they fought again in 2021 over Mike allegedly texting another woman.
Paulina is suing Mike for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and gender-based violence.
Mike Shouhed’s lawyer, George Mgdesyantells TMZ… “This is not the full video. The fight started in the living room. My client was trying to stop her from screaming because the children were sleeping. My client didn’t want her to smoke in the house because there is an autistic child there and This is not in your interest.”
He continued… “What is shown in the video is my client trying to calm her down and that is when he goes behind her and tells her not to scream. There is a lot more to the video than what is provided and that is why my client is getting the fun that he is.”
