The Ukrainian president Zelensky presented yesterday the “winning plan” to the Ukrainian parliament, appealing, among other things, to NATO to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance. A little later, Moscow reacted, with the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, to assert that this plan will lead the Ukrainian people to destruction.
“Zelensky’s so-called victory plan is as far from reality as Ukraine is from victory against Russia,” comments the German News Network (RND).
“An invitation to join NATO can only be made to a country without war. Ukraine would have to extend the war to Russian territory (…) without the help of Western allies – and it is not strong enough for that. Furthermore, NATO and Europe will not be able to reach an agreement even regarding the shooting down of Russian drones by Western allied forces. Therefore, the victory plan has no chance of implementation.”

Solidarity is collapsing
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung points out, for its part, that “despite the standard, constantly repeated assurances that we support the country under attack, one cannot ignore the fact that solidarity with Ukraine has begun to crumble both among citizens and increasingly among EU and NATO political leaders.”
