A new polyphonic play about the miracles, the joys, the achievements but also the oppressions that the female body has suffered, entitled In your body, will be staged by the National Theater on November 13th, at the Chiller Building – “Nikos Kourkoulos” Stage, directed by Eleni Efthymiou.
A brilliant troupe of 12 actresses, of different ages and experiences, compose a dynamic dance that celebrates the pains and also the pleasures of femininity through the prism of the body.
Director Eleni Efthymiou, together with a creative team also made up exclusively of women, creates a show – a female case, which tries to speak with boldness, humor, poetic humor and truth about a subject that, however, concerns all genders .
How freely do we talk about orgasm, menstruation, pregnancy and menopause? Abortion and cesarean section? Masturbation, gender transition, the right not to have children?
Due to the female body’s ability to transform, to constantly change, due to the oppression to which it is subjected to be considered desirable, but also due to violence. How openly do we talk about the violence that is inscribed on women’s bodies?
Taking inspiration from real events, the work In Your Body becomes a vehicle for an explosive dance of women – with a common desire to talk about what still finds no voice today – to celebrate the body and self-determination, inviting us to a journey of awakening and freedom.
