Tributes from across the music industry poured in on Wednesday night for Liam Payne, with reports growing that the One Path member had died at the age of 31 after allegedly falling from a resort in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The English singer entered the music industry after appearing as a contestant on “The X Issue” in 2008. The look was just his first, with Payne returning to the system two years later alongside Harry Types, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik . The quintet placed third and quickly signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, beginning a partnership that will launch One Path as one of the most popular and best-selling boy bands of all time.
The group achieved music industry dominance from 2010 to 2016, selling more than 70 million records worldwide, driven by chart-topping hits like “What Makes You Lovely,” “Evening Modifications” and “Story of My Life.” ”. In 2017, Payne debuted as a solo singer with “Strip That Down,” after One Path took an indefinite hiatus. His debut album “LP1” was released in 2019.
“I’m in shock right now. Liam has always been very different to me. He was one of the first great artists I started working with. I can’t consider him gone,” Charlie Puth wrote on his Instagram story.. “I’m so upset right now, he could relax in peace.”
“I just talked to you two days ago, my guy. I miss you,” rapper Ty Dolla Signal wrote on his Instagram Story, sharing a video of Payne.
“It’s so upsetting to hear the news of (Liam Payne’s) passing,” wrote Paris Hilton on X. “Sending love and condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP my good friend”
Irish duo Jedward, who also competed on “X Issue UK”, handed the power over to Liam Payne’s son Bear and Bear’s mother Cheryl.
