OR AstraZeneca of Greece moves 100% with electric vehicles, as it has completed its transition to electrification.
The initiative was implemented as part of the company’s international commitment Ambição Zero Carbono. As noted in a relevant company announcement, AstraZeneca Greece responded quickly and consistently to the environmental objectives of the corporate fleet, managing to replace all 230 of its employees’ vehicles with state-of-the-art electric vehicles.
The fleet includes 12 different models of electric vehicles from 7 manufacturers, while the company cooperated with two leasing companies. To support the 230 electric vehicles, the company installed 42 chargers in its offices in Marousi and at the same time subsidizes up to the entire cost of installing chargers in the homes of employees who want them.
As highlighted in the respective announcement, at an international level, AstraZeneca is the first pharmaceutical company to actively participate in EV100, a global initiative that promotes electric mobility in the professional sector, as one of the most direct and effective ways to protect the environment. Road transport is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, while air pollution caused by road transport pollution leads to a wide range of negative health effects. By investing in electric mobility, AstraZeneca notes that it contributes to reducing the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere, correspondingly contributing to the reduction of respiratory diseases related to air pollution.
“The transition to electrification is an important contribution by AstraZeneca Greece to achieving the goal of zero pollution from the company’s activities worldwide. It contributes to the reduction of air pollution and supports the creation of a healthier environment for everyone,” said President and CEO of AstraZeneca Greece and Cyprus, Ms. Elena Houliara.
He added: “Completing our transition to electrification strengthens and highlights the environmental consciousness of all our people. At AstraZeneca, we firmly believe that environmental health is inextricably linked to human health and we have proven this in practice. Environmental protection is a priority across all of our operations and at the heart of our value chain.”
