Kody Brown has changed.
For worse.
In a new YouTube live stream with her followers, Mykeltki Brown and her husband, Tony, spoke in-depth about the Sister Wives patriarch… with the former saying that her father let fame go to his head in all the negative ways.
“I think there were always parts of him that were like that, but I think the show transformed his personality,” Mykelti told People, referring to the selfish, oblivious man at the center of Sister Wives season 19.
“Fame does that to people. It just transforms you. And having to deal with your flaws on TV, having it repeatedly thrown in your face for 14 years, it changes you.”
Mykeltki went on to say that Kody didn’t always I have been a deadbeat father.
“I think the show changed him a lot, because he wasn’t like that. He was much more like, ‘I understand, I messed up. I would like to do better. That was my father. The show transformed him.”
That might be true, we never met Kody Brown.
One could argue, of course, that simply being a husband in a polygamous family is very self-centered… considering you have multiple women in your employ at all times.
While watching last week’s episode of Sister Wiveson this same live broadcast, Mykelti became emotional, explaining that it is “difficult” to see her father act the way he does now — refusing to admit his faults and not trying to salvage the relationship with his children.
“Was he always like this? I don’t think so,” Tony added. “I think you can clearly see (in the first few episodes of Sister Wives) that he wasn’t like that years ago.”
As Kody continues to be destroyed by your own childrenthis daughter continued as follows:
“It’s hard to see this Kody Brown (now), because I don’t recognize this Kody Brown. That’s not the Kody Brown I grew up with. Who Kody Brown is Kody Brown from Sister Wives.
“That’s not Kody Brown, my dad. It’s hard to watch him have these conversations and these fights and these arguments because I don’t understand…”
This is all very sad, really.
Especially when Mykeltki is able to reflect on a different version of this father.
“It’s also hard to remember my dad as he was when we were younger,” she said. “Before we were old enough to form our own opinions, he was very, very involved in our lives.
“Even back then, just because there were so many kids, it was hard to give individual attention to all of us and we knew that. We knew it was difficult and Dad also worked a lot. He worked in sales, so he traveled a lot for work.”
Kody said on air this season that he’s more than angry at how things have fallen apart between him and his sons and daughters.
But is he actually doing anything about it?!?
“I think if he took more responsibility for any of his actions, his kids — maybe not all of them, but at least some of them — would reach out,” Mykelti told fans.
“Instead of blaming the kids, or blaming the way they feel about his relationship with his other wife, or blaming the parents, or blaming the gossip or whatever, if he just said, ‘Look, I understand that I did something wrong. Sorry. Can we talk about this?
“I feel like that would go a long way.”
