The plans for the Israeli attack on Iran were approved by Benjamin Netanyahu.
Remember that Netanyahu called a security council today at 8:30 pm. at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
Earlier today, the Israeli Prime Minister was at the base that was hit on Sunday night by Hezbollah. “I want to make this clear: we will continue to mercilessly attack Hezbollah in all parts of Lebanon – and in Beirut,” he said.
He asks workers to leave war zones
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tonight rejected accusations that the Israeli military deliberately targeted UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon (NIFIL)calling them “completely wrong.” He also repeated his call for workers to withdraw from war zones.
THE Israel regrets any harm caused to UNIFIL staff, he stressed. The military, Netanyahu continued, did everything it could to avoid harming members of the force while attacking Hezbollah fighters.
“But the best way to ensure the safety of UNIFIL personnel is for UNIFIL to comply with Israel’s request and temporarily remove itself from danger,” he added.
The workers will stay in Lebanon
A little earlier, French Foreign Minister Sébastien Lecorny, speaking on French public television France 5, emphasized that the workers have the “mission to remain” in Lebanon.
“The day the guns fall silent, there will always be this Blue Line (i.e. the border between Israel and Lebanon), there will be resolution 1701 or a new resolution, there will always be a zone that we will have to guarantee its neutrality,”, said the French minister.
“The United Nations assigned (the mandate) to these forces and it is up to the United Nations to withdraw it, unless an annulment mandate is given by the contracting countries,” he added.
The European countries participating in UNIFIL (Italy, France, Spain and Ireland) will meet on Wednesday to coordinate their actions. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has already stated that “there will be no withdrawal from UNIFIL”.
Around 10,000 peacekeepers from Indonesia, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Ghana, China, the four aforementioned European countries and others were deployed as part of the UNIFIL action.
