The year 1930 saw the discovery of mammography, marking a world-changing moment in the history of medicine and breast cancer prevention. This invention by American doctor Chester Burrell paved the way for early detection and treatment of the disease, saving millions of lives around the world.
Before mammography, the diagnosis of breast cancer was based on palpation and clinical examination. This method, although useful, often delays detection, resulting in treatment being initiated at an advanced stage, drastically reducing the chances of survival. Mammography revolutionized prevention, proving that early detection of even microscopic cancer cells was possible, dramatically increasing the chances of successful treatment.
Preventing breast cancer does not only concern women of reproductive age. Education and awareness from a young age are a cornerstone in the prevention and early detection of the disease. This is the project of the Pan-Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer Alma Zois, founded by women who have personally experienced breast cancer. Its main areas of action are information on prevention and early diagnosis of the disease, organized mutual assistance, training and psychosocial support for breast cancer patients.
Initiative to strengthen the Panhellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer
This year, the company Cosmomed is carrying out an important initiative, actively supporting the Panhellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer “Alma Zois”. With the campaign “Every pink filoskin glove, a victory against breast cancer”, it aims to raise awareness and strengthen the valuable work of the Association.
With each Pink Filoskin Glove that we buy in the months of September and October, we contribute to strengthening “Salto de Vida”, as part of the income goes directly to the Association, contributing to its effort to support women with breast cancer.
You will find Filoskin Pink personal protective gloves in pharmacies.
