Former First Minister (First Minister) of Scotland, Alex Salmond died today aged 69, in the city of Ohrid, North Macedonia.
Salmond reportedly died during a meal at a hotel in the North Macedonian lake town. According to the same information, his death occurred due to a fight.
Yesterday, Alex Salmond was one of the speakers at a forum on cultural diplomacy, co-organized by the office of the former president of North Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, the International Center “Alliance of Civilizations” and the Berlin Institute of Cultural Diplomacy.

Alex Salmond’s death was announced by George Ivanov’s office.
“Sadly, Alex Salmond, former First Minister of Scotland who was one of the participants in yesterday’s cultural diplomacy forum held in Ohrid, has died suddenly today,” the office of the former president of North Macedonia announced.
Alex Salmon served as First Minister of Scotland from 2007-2014. A referendum on Scottish independence was held in September 2014. The independence proposal was rejected by 54% and shortly afterwards Salmond resigned as First Minister of Scotland.
