There cannot have been a person, sports fan or not, who was not shocked by the death of George Baldock.
It was shown by all teams, associations, unions and simple fans without exception.
And then comes UEFA. The National Team faced England today in the Nations League achieving a triumph inside Wembley and the players tearfully dedicated the victory to their friend and teammate.
The almighty UEFA and Mr. Ceferin did not fail to express their sadness at the loss of the 31-year-old player Baldockbut the match was decided as normal because “there are no dates”.
So, despite the pressure and movements of the EPO, our internationals played – with what psychology we saw on the screens – the game, while losing a friend and teammate, a person they saw every day in training, or who shared the room in missions outside headquarters.
Tasos Bakasetas also said this, criticizing several unsubstantiated publications and reports about Baldock.
The PSAPP also reacted: “Our team’s game against England will be played normally despite the Greek federation’s efforts to postpone it, under the pretext of not finding a date in an already inhumane calendar, in terms of work. Once again, whoever makes the decisions would not have time to think about our internationals. To finally understand that man must always be above everything.”
The calendar mentioned by PSAPP is really full. And this doesn’t just concern Greece, obviously. The super players now play 2 and 3 matches a week, with constant travel, new competition formats and a lot of fatigue.
Rodri, from City, warned and Guardiola and Ancelotti agreed: “we are tired of so many games”.
UEFA proclaims respect in all its competitions. Also, the armbands usually… say “Respect.”
