The participation of the Greek marble sector in the 58th Marmorac, one of the most important international marble exhibitions, was widespread.
Specifically, 40 illustrious Greek companies in the sector were present in Verona, Italy and highlighted, through their stands, the unique characteristics and diversity of Greek marble. The mission was organized by the Hellenic Investment and Foreign Trade Company (EnterpriseGreece) in collaboration with the Macedonian Marble Business Association of Thrace (SEMMTH) and for the second consecutive year Greek marble was presented under the official brand GreekMarble|Then.Now.Forever.
It should be noted that the level of competition was also high this year. In terms of main buyers, according to data provided by Marmomac and covering all exhibitors, the five most important markets were Germany, Spain, USA, France and India. Note that a particular increase was observed in India (10%), as well as an impressive increase in the United Kingdom (20%). The exhibition was visited by more than 50 thousand professionals in the sector, of which 66% were foreigners from 140 countries. In terms of exhibitors, 1,485 companies from 55 countries participated, including Greece, occupying a total of 74,000 m2. exhibition space, which included 12 indoor rooms and 4 outdoor areas. In particular, this year’s exhibition focused on promoting advanced technologies and sustainable practices to improve the production and applications of marble and stone. Alongside the exhibition, MARMOMAC has been a center of education and dialogue with more than 40 conferences and workshops, through initiatives such as ThePlusTheatre and AMatterofStone. Also important was the educational program for architects at the MARMOMAC Academy.
EnterpriseGreece, continuing its cooperation with the Association of Marble Companies of Macedonia – Thrace (SEMMTH), jointly created and supported an advertising campaign with Greek Marble – A symbol of excellence, which was located at all its central points. year they ensured the projection of the official video about Greek marble on the giant central screen of the “Teatro Marmomac Plus” Hall, which was a meeting point for the main architectural offices and where all the important speeches and events regarding Greek marble took place, the promotion that took place in the previous period, with a series of articles and tributes in the Italian press, thanks to the work of Enterprise Greece, it had two very important distinctions at this year’s event through a special award from Italian Marble. The Women’s Association (LeDonnedelMarmo), 2 “ambassadors” of female entrepreneurship in the sector, were honored for their significant contribution to the development and promotion of marble worldwide. Among those awarded and representing the international dimension of the institution is Ms. Irini Papagiannouli, marketing director of the company Afoi I. Papagiannouli SA, who is also an active member of SEMMTH. The Greek company “Stonetech”, also an active member of SEMMTH, was distinguished and honored with the “Best Communicator” Award, in the International Design category. The committee recognized the company’s innovative presentation, with an impressive stand designed by Spyros Soulis, which highlighted the beauty and timelessness of Greek marbles.
