Roberto Saleh is opening up about the New York Jets’ decision to hire a new head coach… and he took the high road, expressing nothing but gratitude to the organization for giving him a chance.
Sale released a statement Wednesday morning … thanking the Jets for the opportunity “to work with so many incredible people.”
“I will always be grateful for the love and support from everyone at 1 Jets Drive,” he said.
He then thanked the players he has worked with throughout his three-plus seasons in charge of Gang Green.
“The character of the men in the locker room made coaching you the greatest privilege. Despite all the ups and downs, each of you showed up every day and attacked every moment.”
While some fans supported the 45-year-old coach’s decision to move on, he still took time to thank Jets supporters for embracing his family.
“It has been a pleasure to call New York our home and we will forever cherish all the memories that were created here.”
The moment of the change it was a shock… but overall not too surprising – as Saleh maintained a 20-36 record during his tenure.
Even with Aaron Rodgers back from his Achilles injury this year, the offense is still stuck in first gear — and former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi counted TMZ Sports offense is the root of New York’s problem.
Saleh will enjoy a few months of rest and recovery before supposedly regroups for the NFL’s next hiring cycle… which will certainly increase at the end of the season.
