Kamala Harris on Tuesday night leaned on the old adage that you want to elect someone you can have a beer with — and she did just that with Stephen Colbert.
The vice president sat down with Colbert on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and the two discussed his campaign to become the next president of the United States, with less than a month left in his race against Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Colbert kicked things off by pointing out that since Kamala named Tim Walz as her vice president, everyone has been calling it a “vibrant election.”
He said he thinks elections are won on vibes because people want to elect someone they can identify with and have a beer with, asking Kamala if she would like to have a beer with him.
Kamala nodded and laughed as Colbert retrieved two cans of “Miller High Life” – giving her one while keeping the other for himself. Kamala and Colbert opened their beers and toasted, before taking sips.
Colbert made a point of saying that Miller was brewed in the swing state of Wisconsin – and Kamala highlighted that it was the champagne of beers.
So Colbert turned to Pennsylvania, another swing state, and asked Kamala to choose between the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers without driving her fans crazy.
Instead, Kamala chose the San Francisco 49ers — bursting into her famous laugh and explaining that no one would be mad at her for choosing her hometown team. Kamala, as you know, is from SF.
In November, we’ll see if Kamala is right.
