THE PASOK submitted a request for a roll call vote on the provision relating to the qualifications of the Governor of the National Transparency Authority.
The aforementioned request was presented today in the debate on the Ministry of the Interior’s bill on Land Border Posts, in the plenary of the Assembly of the Republic.
“The government continues its institutional decline”
According to PASOK deputies, the provision “removes degrees in law and economics and introduces vague concepts such as operational competence for evaluation, in order to facilitate the selection of candidates for the position of Governor of the Authority”. The New Democracy government continues its institutional decline, once again exposing our country internationally”, add the PASOK deputies.
During the drafting of the bill yesterday, Minister of the Interior Th Livanios said that “the removal of certain degrees does not mean that the provision is arbitrary, when it expands who can choose (..). And as (PASOK deputy) Mrs. Liakoulis was a very good and successful president of OKANA, a legal person – she was neither a psychiatrist nor a psychologist – there are cases in which the first degree does not completely determine the professional career”.
Livanios also noted that (New Left MP) Mr. Iliopoulos, as an informant “was a very good special secretary of the Labor Inspection Corps. He was not a labor expert, nor had he done business administration. Therefore, it does not mean that the first degree, when not accompanied by additional needs for a master’s or doctorate, is decisive for development. I don’t remember how the choices made by the leaders of these institutions were made with a decision by the Minister, he said I want A, I want B and never asked. nobody. Like in the Public Administration Auditors Inspectorate Corps, like Environmental Inspectors, etc.. I don’t remember, there was not even an announcement to fill such a position until at least 2009”, commented Mr. Livanios.
