Less than a year and a half after its release in June 2023, the popular online RPG “Diablo IV” is receiving a new expansion pack that introduces new characters, places and narratives to the lore of Sanctuary.
Starting at $39.99, “Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred” is available to download for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, as well as PC – starting Tuesday, October 8th.
As “Vessel of Hatred” is an add-on, you will need to own a copy of “Diablo IV” to download it. However, if you have access to the game through Xbox Game Pass, you will still have to purchase the DLC (downloadable content) if you want to play.
Unlike the main campaign of “Diablo IV”, “Vessel of Hatred” takes place in a jungle location called “Nahantu”.
“The whole point is that it expands the world. So when you look at ‘Diablo IV,’ it’s set in what we call the Japanese Mainland,” explains Rod Fergusson, game producer and general manager at Activision Blizzard, to Selection. “And there’s a component here called Nahantu, which is a jungle and it’s really fascinating to visit a special place. It’s understood that ‘Diablo IV’ has a gothic and medieval feel, but Nahantu has that same jungle vibe which is a pallet cleanser from my setting perspective. And so it’s really fun and fresh to come into it with a different environment with a new way of playing.”

As for the DLC itself, “Vessel of Hatred” introduces new enemies, including monstrous insects and corrupted humanoids, in a jungle setting, while including a new final dungeon for online co-op play. There is also a new character class called “Spiritborn,” which can draw energy from ancient jungle warriors in combat.
The standard version, which costs $39.99, includes the lower augmentation, while the deluxe version, which costs $59.99, includes the lower augmentation and more armor, skins, animal companions, and more. And priced at $89.99, the final version has all of these items, plus additional tokens, in-game currency, and other fun goodies.
Starting Tuesday, October 8, “Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred” will be available to download for Xbox and PC. In the meantime, watch the game’s launch trailer below:
