A Spirit Airways flight appeared to lose its “spirit” when two girls claimed they were kicked by a flight attendant – for the crime of carrying crop tops.
Companions Teresa and Tara say they boarded the flight from Los Angeles to New Orleans in pants and sweaters, but as soon as they stripped down to relax, that’s when the flight attendant allegedly singled them out.
The women told DailyMail.com they asked the attendant which costume code rule they broke, but problems quickly escalated. Before they knew it, they were thrown off the aircraft.
They captured parts of the drama on TikTok — one video shows them sitting in their seats, looking absolutely stunned by the fuss surrounding their outfits. Another clip shows them returning to the terminal. However, there is no footage of the attendant actually confronting them regarding the so-called dress code violation.
At the end of the day, they said it was a humiliating and dehumanizing experience, feeling like criminals as they were escorted off the aircraft. To top it off, they had to shell out $1,000 for new flights on a different airline.
They said they called themselves Spirit afterward, and the airline reportedly said they have no problem with crop tops in their costume code.
A representative for Spirit told TMZ: “Our contract of carriage, a document that all companies comply with when booking with us, includes certain clothing requirements for all companies traveling with us. We are investigating the matter and are engaging with the company about its experience.”
