Another act of sabotage of the cables of the OSE railway line in the Acharna Railway Center (SKA) area occurred in the early hours of the morning by two people who were detained by the Greek Police while carrying out illegal actions. .
According to a statement from OSE, in the early hours of today, Friday, there was a problem on the circuit (6107) in the SKA area. Arrests by ELAS – OSE Complaints
According to OSE, the police were informed and made arrests a few minutes before 2am. OSE is currently pursuing legal action against those involved.
The OSE states that the increasing theft of railway materials, such as rails and cables, is a serious problem affecting the Greek railway infrastructure. “The circuits operating in areas such as Acharnes and SKA loot remote control and light signaling cables, blocking the operation of trains. The effects of these actions are significant, as the control panels lose sight of the exact position of the trains, creating delays on routes and disruption for the traveling public”, adds the OSE.
According to him, “the perpetrators do not limit themselves to cables, but also steal parts of the rails, which they allegedly take to illegal foundries to sell copper and iron”. Recently, in the Tavros area, police found a car carrying more than 500 kg of railway material. Interest in these circuits now appears to have shifted towards electromobility, as the hard electrolytic copper used in the lines has a high value on the scrap market.’
