Lieutenant General Herchi Halevi emphasizes the “barrier” to Hezbollah resettlement in southern Lebanon, which will be placed by the Israeli army.
IDF Chief of Staff Herchi Halevi said in a videotaped statement from northern Israel: “Today I met with the commanders and troops of the 98th Division and the 36th Division, who are fighting in Lebanon, for one objective very important: creating security in the north and the return of residents to their homes after more than a year of evacuation.”
“In order for residents to return, (we must) destroy the terrorist infrastructure that Hezbollah built near the border to attack our cities on the day it was ordered (and) to kill Israeli civilians. We are very determined to destroy this infrastructure and kill whoever is there”, he continues.
“We will not allow Hezbollah to come to these places in the future. The harsh blows against Hezbollah in all areas, in Beirut, in the (Beqaa) valley, in southern Lebanon, will continue”, he states.
Furthermore, Halevi states that Israeli troops in Lebanon are “exterminating more and more terrorists, each encounter of this type ends with us at an advantage”.
“Our forces are more prepared and trained than ever, with combat experience in Gaza and their advantage on the battlefield is clear,” he continues.
He also noted that he had reviewed findings from recent fighting in southern Lebanon in which soldiers were killed. “I saw commanders who, despite the fire, advanced, led – and the troops with them – and courageously dominated the enemy,” says Halevi.
“We will continue to fight on all fronts to bring better security to the State of Israel”, adds the chief of staff of the Israeli army.
