John Amos‘ daughter Shannon said he learned of his father’s death along with the rest of the world. She took to social media with a brief message about her father’s passing.

Shannon Amos raises questions about her father’s death
As previously reported, John’s son, Kelly Christopher, confirmed in a press release that his father passed away on August 21. Shannon didn’t do this in her social media post either, but she definitely pointed it out.
“I am speechless… Our family received the heartbreaking news that my father, John Allen Amos Jr., transitioned on August 21st. We are devastated and have many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it from the media, like many of you,” she wrote.
Additionally, John Amos’ daughter stated that a time that should be to celebrate John’s “life” is filled with “uncertainty surrounding his death.” “There is still some peace in knowing that my father is finally free,” the daughter added. Scroll below to see the full statement.
Shannon Amos questions her father’s death more than a year later she stated publicly he was being subjected to elder abuse and fighting for his life. She also created a GoFundMe to allegedly help with his situation, which she claimed also included financial exploitation. John later denied her allegations in a statement to TMZ.
At the time, his representative, Belinda Foster, also told the outlet that John was hospitalized due to fluid buildup in his stomach. However, Foster assured the channel that the ‘Good Times’ actor was not in any danger to his life.

As mentioned, John Amos’ son confirmed his death, as did his representative, Belinda. “He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved around the world. Many fans consider him their TV dad. He lived a good life,” said Christopher.
A follow-up TMZ report states that the actor died of heart failure. He reportedly passed away at 5:18 pm at a hospital in Inglewood, Los Angeles County. No other health conditions are listed on his death certificate, according to TMZ. Furthermore, the family decided to cremate the 84-year-old man nine days after his death on August 30. Her son is listed as the person who informed the county of her death. João Amos was 84 years old.
