Ginger Zee eased fans’ concerns by bravely covering Hurricane Helene!
Helene devastated parts of the East Coast when it made landfall on September 26, 2024. Many national and local reporters have been keeping residents updated on conditions and damage from the storm.
Ginger is the chief meteorologist for ABC News, and she was on site offering regular updates on the hurricane and its effects! Despite her regular posts, many viewers are concerned about her well-being.
The weather reporter revealed that she was traveling to Florida to begin covering Helene in an Instagram post on September 25th. She also warned residents in Tennessee, Georgia, western South Carolina and western North Carolina.
Ginger later posted a selfie video, talking about how the storm was moving. She also warned people in neighboring states to prepare. “I can’t emphasize enough how this is not just a Florida storm,” she said.
Ginger continually hopped on Instagram Live and videos posted to keep people updated on the storm. During a live broadcast in St. Petersburg, she showed how choppy the water was, even at low tide. “It’s only going to get worse,” she advised.
Later, Ginger it was live from her car just before the Category 4 storm made landfall. She also showed a radar, before warning the cities that would be affected by the hurricane. “I look destroyed,” she said.
Fans express concern about Ginger Zee
The next day, Ginger posted a video where she wore her ABC News raincoat and baseball cap. She was giving updates on the storm passing through Florida and talking about their next destination.
In the comments section, people were very worried about the meteorologist and told her to be careful! “Stay safe out there,” one person wrote.
In addition to showing concern for her safetymany others also expressed gratitude for the news updates. “Thank you and the crew for the life-saving information,” commented another.

Ginger Zee shows hurricane damage
In addition to keeping viewers updated on what was happening during the storm, Ginger reported on the damage Helene caused on Instagram and in news reports.
On September 27th, she filmed a video just past the Treasure Island Bridge to reveal that boats have reached the shore, passing along roads and entering people’s homes.
Ginger revealed that these are simply the effects of a record increase. “NOTHING compared to the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the great bend of Florida,” she wrote in the caption.
During a Good morning America transmission, Ginger explained that there would certainly be more destruction in other areas. “It’s nothing compared to what’s happening in north Georgia.”

After the weight of storm damage is overGinger shared a video with reflections on how to be better prepared. She sympathized with people who weren’t sure where to evacuate and who couldn’t leave for a variety of reasons.
“Rescue before rescue must be our next social focus. I’ve seen this in many disasters – it’s not always a choice people make to not evacuate,” she wrote.
She concluded by asking for helpful resources and wishing the victims good luck. “I hope we can all have some grace for people and focus that energy on helping,” she wrote.
