Paramount has released its first trailer for the musical biopic of director Michael Gracey. The best showmanwho used a CGI monkey to play the role of the 50-year-old British pop sensation.
“I know what you are considering. What’s with the monkey? I’m Robbie Williams. I’m one of the biggest pop stars in the world. But I always saw myself as a little less advanced,” Williams is heard narrating.

Although the film feels like a musical biopic that has appeared on our screens before – like Elvis – the big difference is the entrance and the heart of the monkey that speaks and sings.
The trailer begins with Williams’ primate alter ego being pushed to the ground by a group of kids while playing football… before showing the same monkey acting on stage in front of thousands.
“Superior Man is based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall and remarkable resurgence of British pop celebrity Robbie Williams, one of the greatest artists of all time,” reads the official logline.

The cast includes Steve Pemberton, Damon Herriman, Raechelle Banno, Alison Steadman, Kate Mulvaney, Frazer Hadfield, Tom Budge and Anthony Hayes. Jonno Davies plays Williams’ monkey model.
Superior Man is set to be released on Christmas Day, ahead of a wider release on January 17th.
