“Mark and I broke up. It’s hard because I broke up with Mark because I just know that in the long run it’s not right,” began Cavallari. “It’s not because of lost love or something dangerous happened, no one cheated, no one was mean. Nobody did anything. These breakups are always the hardest, I think because it’s almost easier if the guy does something that makes you hate him.
“Mark didn’t do anything. Mark has been nothing but so sweet and so supportive…” she continued. “He has been the perfect boyfriend I have ever had. I just know that in the long run he must experience life, he is young… I started to feel a little older with life experience. I look back at when I was 24 and how much life happened in between, those are important years, those are youth, that’s when you’re done and he wants to be able to do that.”
THE Laguna Coastline The former student added that although she was “always very aware” of the age difference between them, she wasn’t “ignoring the fact that he was younger.”
Cavallari continued to look back on their romance fondly, calling it “adorable” and “the perfect relationship of my life.”
“It was very healthy and very mature,” she said. “It was nothing but sweet and loving.”
The previous Hills star – who shares sons Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 8, with her ex-husband Jay Cutler – began to get emotional as she praised her now ex, whom she called “a very good man”.
“He will make someone so completely happy someday, so, so completely happy someday. And he will have a beautiful family of his own, which he should do,” said Cavallari. “He should go and he should have several children. He should. I know one day he will look again and realize it.”
“And I truly assume that one day he will thank me,” she continued, noting that Estes doesn’t have the “hindsight” that she has since she was 24. “At 24, it’s so onerous to consider the long term… you just, like, I don’t get it. Everything is so right now, when you’re 24. And (when you’re older) you’ll have a little more life experience to know, ‘This isn’t the end of the world. He’ll be fine. I’ll be fine.’”

“I don’t regret going public with him. I don’t regret introducing him to my children. I don’t regret anything,” she said. “It was such a happy relationship. And I believe that with every relationship you learn and from which you grow, and I will always look back at Mark and myself with so many fond memories and just pure happiness.
Cavallari also shared her hope that she and Estes will remain in each other’s lives after their split.
“I’m optimistic that we will remain friends,” she said, before getting a little emotional again. “I like being friends with my exes and Mark is actually someone I would really like to have in my life in some way because I really care about him.”
As for what she’s doing now and her thoughts on relationships, Cavallari said she has “little interest in getting back into the world of relationships at the moment.”
“I’m very happy and very content that my life is now about my kids and my work,” she explained, noting that “happiness” to her means “peace.”
“I just want to really take care of myself. I’m really feeling this energy of just wanting to feel really good and make myself a priority, so I don’t really know where men fall on that list,” she concluded. “I assume not, and in a few months I’m sure that will change. But right now, that’s all I want to do.
Cavallari and Estes were first linked in February 2024, with the two being quite open about their romance after going public with their relationship.
On Friday, Cavallari confirmed studies which she and Estes learned about when she appeared on stage at the end of Alex Cooper’s Unwell tour in Austin, Texas.
