Renault has released the first photos of a subcompact electric crossover that will be launched this month in Paris Motor Show 2024.
The crossover is a spiritual successor to the iconic Renault 4 launched in 1961and its design was presented at the 2022 Paris Motor Show by 4Ever Trophy Concept. The automaker also launched 5 electric hatchback earlier this year, becoming yet another iconic model from the French brand’s past that was reborn for the electric era.
The original 4, also known as the 4L, was produced for over 30 years and offered in a variety of body styles, although primarily as a four-door hatchback.
THE new 4 E-Tech (E-Tech is Renault’s designation for EVs) will measure 163 inches long, or about 11 inches less than the latest Mini Countryman.

The 4 E-Tech will use the same Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance CMF-B EV Platform found in the 5 E-Tech, Renault confirmed. However, Renault’s version of the platform is a unique, low-cost design that the automaker has named AmpR Small.
Sales of the 4 E-Tech and 5 E-Tech will begin next year in the markets where the French brand operates. A reservation process has been set up at dealerships for buyers who want to secure an early construction spot.
The Paris motor show opens its doors to the media on October 14th. Renault’s Alpine performance brand will also use the event to preview the next Electric compact crossover A390.
