The war in Ukraine was referred to by Mark Rutte in his first statement as Secretary General of the Alliance.
Russian President Vladimir Putin must realize that NATO “will not back down from Ukraine”, noted the new NATO Secretary General assuming their duties. “We must focus on the war effort. The more we help Ukraine, the sooner the war will end.”
Mark Rutte stated today that the right of self-defense from Ukraine “it doesn’t end at the border”, recognizing that the situation on the Ukrainian front is difficult, but adding that the territorial gains that Russia is making come at a high cost for it.
NATO does not consider that there is immediate danger by Russian threats to use nuclear weaponssaid the new secretary general, warning that NATO countries should not give in to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s frequent threats about the possible use of nuclear weapons, to avoid creating a dangerous precedent.
