Kristin Cavallari broke up with boyfriend Mark Estes after about seven months of dating.
And yet…
… the Laguna Beach alum is the one who is very upset about this development.
“I broke up with Mark because I know in the long run it’s not right,” the mother of three said in her latest podcast episode.
“It’s not because of lost love or something bad happened, no one cheated, no one was bad. Nobody did anything. These breakups are always the hardest, I think.”
Cavallari introduced her 24 year old lover to the world in February.
“He makes me happy,” the former reality star captioned a simple Instagram photo of Estes from around that time.
“He’s been the best boyfriend I’ve ever had. I just know that he needs to experience life in the long term, he is young… I started to feel my age a little with life experience”, Cavallari told listeners.
“I look back at when I was 24 and how much life has happened in between then, those are crucial years, those are formative years, that’s when you find yourself and he needs to be able to do that.”
The MTV personality said he was “always well aware” of the couple’s 13-year age difference and didn’t “ignore the fact that he was younger.”
However, she emphasized on this podcast that the partnership was “the best relationship of my life” and called it “very healthy and very mature” despite their age differences.
Kristin shares three children with ex-husband Jay Cutler: 11 year old Camden, 9 year old Jaxon and 8 year old Saylor.
Through her Instagram Story this spring, she made it clear that Estes knew at least one of these children; the relationship was obviously very serious.
“He’ll make someone very happy one day… and have a beautiful family,” Cavallari continued of Estes.
“I know one day he will look back and understand this and I really think one day he will look back and thank me.”
It seems condescending. But we think Kristin meant it in a very kind way.
“I don’t regret going public with him. I don’t regret introducing him to my children,” she said in this podcast.
“I don’t regret anything. It was such a good and happy relationship. And I think with every relationship you learn and grow, I will always look back at Mark and myself with fond memories and pure happiness.
Looking ahead, Cavallari says she hopes she and Estes remain friends and that she is taking a break from dating.
“I’m very happy and very content that my life is now focused on my kids and work,” she explained, adding that she would like to prioritize her happiness, which includes “peace” and “making this house exactly how I want it.” .”
“I just really want to take care of myself. I’m really feeling this energy of just wanting to feel really good and make myself a priority, so I don’t know where men fall on that list.
“I don’t think so, and in a few months I’m sure that will change. But right now, that’s all I want to do.”
