Beverly Hills was the scene of a real-life nightmare when a would-be kidnapper tried to snatch a girl from her father’s arms in broad daylight – ending up stabbed in the struggle and later dying.
Bystanders captured part of the incident on Saturday… showing the injured father desperately begging for someone to call 911 as he held his daughter, safe again in his arms – while the suspect turned his fury on a Good Samaritan who tried to intervene.
In the footage, the bloodied attacker is seen diving into the rear window of the car of the man who only wants to be identified as Brian. He later told ABC7 Los Angeles that it was clear the attacker was experiencing a psychotic break or reacting to drugs.
Brian explained that he managed to throw a few punches at the attacker, who tried to flee with his dog – with footage showing Brian’s car passing through an intersection and crashing into a hedge during the chaos.
In a later scene, the injured suspect is shown on the ground after being approached by police officers. Beverly Hills police confirmed that he did not survive the intense confrontation, dying in the hospital.
Beverly Hills police released a statement saying the suspect was stabbed by his father in the initial confrontation. They said the suspect and victim were on the sidewalk when the suspect attacked. The father, who was cooperating with police, was also reportedly injured.
The suspect’s identity is under seal and the official cause of death is still up in the air as the investigation continues. The injured father was treated and released from the hospital.
