Perhaps it wouldn’t surprise anyone to learn that that convicted swindler Anna Delvey didn’t make any friends while appearing on Dancing With The Stars.
Less surprising? She’s enjoying her 15 minutes of renewed fame despite being kicked out.
Case in point: A week after being eliminated from the competition, Anna took a swing at Tori Spellingwhich also started the show in the first week.
But why target Tori of all people? And why is Tori agreeing to this?!
Anna Delvey tells Tori by spelling it out in her face: Your name ‘sounds poor’
“Tori, I heard you wanted to reinvent yourself,” Anna tells Tori in a video shared via Instagram on Monday, September 30th.
Never one to miss an opportunity, Tori was quick to invite Anna onto her “MisSpelling” podcast after they were kicked off DWTS.
To promote the episode, the women record a sketch titled “Reinventing Tori”, a tribute to the Netflix series based on Delvey’s life.
In the video, Tori looks longingly at Anna, eager for some advice on how she could improve her image for the next stage of her career.
“Yes! Anna, what can I do? Spelling asks excitedly.
Anna then tells her that maybe it’s time to change her name. “Spelling?” the Beverly Hills90210 questions from the former student to which Anna responds: “No. Tori.”
When Tori questions why, Anna responds brutally: “It looks bad.
A joke that hits too close to home for Tori
While this all sounds fun, the joke leaves Tori surprised. Apparently this is on purpose, although there’s no denying that Tori’s finances have been the topic of a lot of conversation over the past couple of years.
The truth is, Tori’s net worth is in question following her divorce from Dean McDermott. She hasn’t been working much and since she was forced to leave the house after a mold infestationshe’s been bouncing from RVs to rentals and hotels for most of the year.
For all intents and purposes, she is homeless person! Still, Tori doesn’t hesitate to poke fun at herself, especially if it helps pay the bills.
Tori and Anna talk about their double elimination
Back in the play, when Tori asks what other changes she can make to reinvent herself, Anna has a simple one-word answer: “Nothing.”
For those who haven’t tuned in yet DWTS this season, his response is a node to his now-viral interaction with DWTS co-host Julianne Hough following his elimination from the competition when he stated that he would take “nothing” from the show.
It’s clear that neither personality wanted to leave the show so quickly and the pair discussed their short run on the competition series.
For Anna, her goal on the show – besides being in front of the cameras – was to get the routines right.
“I think my focus was ‘Oh, it’s a dance competition, so I have to do the steps because that’s how I was trained,’” Anna shared with Tori. She then added that she was classically trained in ballet.
“You have to take the steps, no one wants to see you smile… (and) in ballet you don’t smile.”
Well, you got that part right, Anna!
