Vladimir Putin said today that Moscow will “achieve all its objectives” in Ukraine, on the occasion of the second anniversary of Russia’s annexation of 4 Ukrainian regions, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson.
“The truth is on our side. All goals will be achieved”, said Putin in a video-recorded speech, while congratulating the Russian people on the occasion of “Reunification Day” with the 4 Ukrainian provinces celebrated today, September 30 .
“fatal event”
Putin characterized the invasion of Ukraine “a fatal event” that was necessary to protect the Russian-speaking inhabitants of these provinces against the “neo-Nazi dictatorship” and “extreme nationalism”.
“We did not abandon our brothers and sisters”, he stressed, defending once again “the need and legitimacy of the special military operation”.
“Today we fight for a safe and prosperous future for our children and grandchildren,” Putin emphasized.
On September 30, 2022, the Russian president signed the relevant decree formalizing the annexation of these four Ukrainian regions, which Moscow partially controls. Residents of these provinces voted for annexation by Russia in referendums that were not recognized by Ukraine and the international community.
