The bomb Israel used to kill Hezbollah leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut last Friday there was an American-made guided weapon.
Mark Kelly, chairman of the Senate Air Force Subcommittee, said Israel used a Mark 84 bomb weighing 900 kgin an interview he gave to the NBC television network.
This statement is the first that an American official has made about the type of ammunition used.
“We are seeing more use of guided munitions (Joint Direct Attack Munitions or JDAM) and we continue to deliver these weapons,” Kelly said.
“That 900 kg bomb that was used was a Mark 84 series bomb to kill Hassan Nasrallah,” he said.
The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had killed Nasrallah in an attack on the group’s headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, but declined to comment on what type of weapons were used in the operation.
The Pentagon also had no comment.
JDAMs turn simple, unguided bombs into guided weapons using fins and a GPS guidance system.

What… “betrayed” Nasrallah
An incredible scenario about how to kill Hassan Nasrallah is transmitted by sources in Saudi Arabia.
The assassination of the Hezbollah leader was made possible when an agent met him in person and, upon shaking his hand, smeared it with a substance that, minutes later, would allow Israeli intelligence and military forces to locate and track his location.
