Concerns about Warren Beatty’s health are not new.
After all, the 87-year-old has been a household name since the 1960s and currently rarely appears in public. So it stands to reason that there would be occasional speculation about his general condition.
The latest round of fears about the screen legend’s well-being began in March, when he was noticeably absent from his daughter Ella’s Broadway debut.

This absence led several media outlets to note that Beatty has not made public appearances since 2022.
“Hollywood insiders can’t help but wonder if he’s OK or really sick,” a source recently said. In touch (through Yahoo! News).
“Everyone is starting to realize he’s not around. Not being photographed in two years is a really big deal,” said a separate source, adding:
“Warren is fragile and yet vain as hell. He doesn’t want to be seen in public.”
A third source told the outlet that “they’ve heard he’s very forgetful.”
This is understandable at 87 years old. And Beatty certainly isn’t the first actor of his generation to step away from the spotlight.
Jack NicholsonRobert Redford, Gene Hackman and many others also left the Hollywood life behind.
And Beatty’s decision may have been partly prompted by the debacle that unfolded during one of his last high-profile public appearances.
The Oscar Incident
When Beatty and his Bonnie and Clyde co-star Faye Dunaway presented the Oscar for Best Picture in 2017, they announced La La Terra as the winner.
Of course, Moonlight actually won the top prize of the night. Fortunately, the error was cleared up after a few minutes of confusion.
But all these years later, Beatty and Dunaway are still unfairly blamed.
“Presenters were mistakenly given the wrong category envelope and, when discovered, were immediately corrected,” accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers said in a statement obtained by USA today at the moment.
“We are currently investigating how this could have happened and we deeply regret that this occurred.”
Obviously, Beatty and Dunaway are living legends. And their legacies are unlikely to be tarnished by what was essentially a freak accident.
But it’s not hard to see how such confusion could lead someone to permanently forgo public appearances.
Either way, Warren’s 32-year marriage to Annette Bening is one of the most revered in Hollywood.
And at this stage in his life, Warren may prefer to stay home and enjoy his family.
