There will be a single ticket at public transporther Thessalonikiwhile those issued on buses will give access to the metro by opening the gates, and those issued on the metro will allow boarding the bus.
The statement was made by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Nikos Tachiaoos, in a post on social media.
At the same time, it informs that prices and discounts will be published by the Transport sector of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
In particular, in his related post, Mr. Tachiaos states that he was in the testing area of the devices and ticket system of the Thessaloniki metro, located at Pylaia station, during a break in a process that lasts ten days.
At the same time, it states that once the functionality of the software and the response of the equipment have been certified, it will be loaded into all gateways already installed in the stations.
Explaining the process, the Deputy Minister states: “In a first phase, metro passengers will receive personalized plastic cards and rechargeable paper tickets (up to 10 times). In automatic ticket vending machines, the purchase of a paper ticket, on which any available fare product can be digitally “printed”, will be made, either in cash or on a card, in a normal or contactless operation. Along the way, it will be possible to pass through the gates without contacting your cell phone or card.”
It also refers to the integrated circuit with the paper ticket chip and the way in which the procedures to prevent pass and ticket evasion at the subway gates are activated.
“This system, installed on behalf of the metro construction contractor, American Conduent, together with its security keys that prohibit the use of false tickets, will be handed over for use to the Thessaloniki Transport Project Organization (OSETH), which is committed to ‘works’ in interoperability with the equivalent installed on buses. On tickets and receipts, both for the metro and buses, you will find the OSETH logo and tax number. As for the old OASTH paper tickets, the metro ones are useless”, he adds.
Finally, he clarifies that he has one of the first personalized cards in his hands, but this is only functional for testing, as the security keys have not yet been installed and therefore his card is “orphaned”.
