If there’s a scene in the new “Happy Gilmore” script that requires an alligator to grab a golfer’s arm… the reptile handler who played the role in the original film says TMZ Sports it is up to him to reprise the role.
The alligator – nicknamed “Morris” – has been enjoying the sweet life in Colorado Gators Reptile Park in Mosca since he gained fame for stealing Adam Sandlergolf ball in the 1996 film “Happy Gilmore”… but its owner, Jay Youngsays he’s willing to come out of retirement for the long-awaited sequel.
Young, however, says Sandler and company would have to jump through some hoops for everything to work out… since the 70-year-old, 500-pound beast simply can’t be transported these days.
But if Sandler is willing to come to the Centennial State with cameras in tow… Young tells us Morris will be ready for his close-up.
So far, Young says Sandler’s team hasn’t reached out … but given the role Morris played in the first iteration of “HG” — it seems like it would be a good idea.
You may recall, the alligator filmed some of the sports classic’s most memorable scenes – namely the one where Gilmore fought him after realizing he was the culprit who grabbed Chubbs’ hand.
Waiting for your permission to upload Instagram media.
Morris also appeared in “Dr. Dolittle 2”, “Interview with the Vampire”, and other films before retiring. He has lived in the park since 2006.
They may have to get creative with how to use Morris – after all, his ending in the first film wasn’t good for him.
But Sandler has more than enough time to tie it all together – as there’s still no official release date for “Happy Gilmore 2″… so just tap it put it in, happy!!!
