Night at the museum! Samuel L. Jackson will be honored at the Museum of Modern Art’s 16th Annual Benefit, presented by Chanel, on Wednesday, October 23, in New York City.
The 75-year-old actor will be applauded for his work in more than 150 films throughout his career, which have amassed more global box office receipts than any other actor.
The celebration will add to Jackson’s impressive list of achievements, including an Oscar nomination, an honorary Oscar, two Tony Awards, an Emmy Award and so on.
“Samuel L. Jackson became a defining cultural figure thanks to his early film work with Spike Lee, which captivated audiences and critics alike, and his biblically powerful performance as the wise and ruthless killer Jules in Pulp Fiction (1994),” Rajendra Roy, MoMA’s Celeste Bartos chief curator of film, said in a press release.
“He has roots in acting in New York theater, just blocks from MoMA, and we are thrilled to welcome him to celebrate his unparalleled achievements,” he continued.
In addition to the event, MoMA will present Samuel L. Jackson: A Tribute, which will feature several films from his filmography, including Changing lanes, 187, Captain Marveland his latest film, The piano lessonwill be shown at the Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters from October 4 to 16.
