The Kremlin today expressed fears of a “total destabilization” of the Middle East due to the escalation between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“This is certainly a potentially extremely dangerous event, since it is an extension of the conflict zone, the complete destabilization of the region,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“This certainly concerns us and concerns us to the utmost degree,” he added.
The Israeli military (IDF) has struck more than 1,600 targets of Hezbollah, which it accuses of not only storing its rockets and other weapons in homes but also of using civilians as human shields. “We will dismantle what Hezbollah has built for 20 years,” Defense Minister Yoav Gallad said. In a first response on Tuesday morning, the Lebanese terrorist organization fired 65 rockets towards northern Israel.
