Iranian President Massoud Pezheskian today called the United Nations’ “inaction” against Israel “outrageous and incomprehensible” in the context of the war in the Gaza Strip and recent Israeli attacks on Israel. Lebanon.
“During my meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, I stated that the UN’s inaction against the crimes of the occupying regime is outrageous and incomprehensible,” the Iranian president said in a post on X.
He also stated “deep concern about the expansion of the war throughout the Middle East.”
At the same time, in an interview he gave to CNN, Pezeskian said that Hezbollah – the pro-Iranian Lebanese organization – “cannot stand alone” against Israel.
“Hezbollah cannot stand aloneagainst a country that is defended, supported and nurtured by Western countries, by European countries and by the US,” he emphasized in his interview, which was translated from Farsi into English.
He appealed to the international community “not to allow Lebanon to become another Gaza”, in response to a question about whether Iran would use its influence with Hezbollah to demand restraint.
Iran has called on the UN Security Council to “take immediate action” against the “outrageous” Israeli escalation.
