The extermination of a “large number of its terrorists Hezbollah” announced the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF), following the airstrikes they launched on Monday.
From the attacks against him LebanonMore than 356 people died and 1,246 were injured, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
“Among the dead were a large number of Hezbollah terrorists, who they were close to the weapons we hitIDF spokesman Daniel Hagari told a news conference this evening, without giving a specific number. At the same time, he released photos that allegedly show a Hezbollah long-range missile hidden in the attic of a house in the village of Humin el Tahta in southern Lebanon. “It was about to launch itself through an opening in the roof of the house,” Hagari said, adding that Hezbollah was using a family living on the first floor of the house as a “human shield.”
The objectives
Hezbollah’s military commander in southern Lebanon was reportedly the target of one of Israel’s air strikes on a Beirut suburb today, a source close to the pro-Iran organization said. “The attack targeted the commander of Hezbollah’s southern front, Ali Karaki, considered Hezbollah’s third military commander,” he said.
The “number two”Ibrahim Akil was killed on Friday in an Israeli strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The head of the military administration, Fouad Soukr, was also killed on July 30.
The Israeli military previously referred to a “targeted attack” in Beirut, without providing further details.
On Monday night, Hezbollah assured that Ali Karaki “is fine” and is in a “safe location”.
Hit over 1,300 targets
Since morning, warplanes and drones have struck more than 1,300 Hezbollah-linked targets in various locations across Lebanon, the Israeli military spokesman said earlier. “Among the targets hit were buildings where Hezbollah has hidden rockets, launchers and drones (…) intended for use in attacks against Israel,” a related statement said.
In turn, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad said that tens of thousands of Hezbollah rockets were destroyed today in airstrikes in Lebanon. Calling it a remarkable “culmination” of military operations against Hezbollah, Gallad said: “Today we destroyed tens of thousands of rockets and precision munitions. Everything that Hezbollah built up over a period of two decades, after the Second Lebanon War (starting in the summer of 2006), is being destroyed by the IDF (the Israeli armed forces).”
Netanyahu: Don’t let Hezbollah put your life in danger
In the afternoon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Lebanese citizens to “stay away from danger zones.” “Israel’s war is not against you, but against Hezbollah. For too long, Hezbollah has used you as human shields. Put rockets in your living room and rockets in your garage. These rockets and missiles are aimed directly at our cities, our citizens. To protect our people from Hezbollah’s attacks, we must remove these weapons from the path,” Netanyahu said in a video message. “Don’t let Hezbollah endanger your life and the lives of your loved ones. Don’t let Hezbollah endanger Lebanon,” he added.
