Taxation procedures for refining companies begin with a rate of 33% on profits that exceed the average for the years 2018 – 2021 by 20%.
The money to be raised is estimated at 300 million euros, of which 243 million will be used mainly to finance the extraordinary financial assistance that will be received in December by retirees who will not see an increase in their pension in 2025 due to personal differences and other vulnerable social groups.
According to the decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Christos Dimas, the declaration of the Temporary Solidarity Contribution for the fiscal year 2023 must be submitted by September 30, while its payment must be made once by February 28, 2025. It concerns companies with a turnover of:
a) coal mining,
b) lignite mining,
c) extraction of crude oil,
d) pumping of natural gas,
e) production of coke products (coke),
f) production of petroleum derivatives.
Which companies will be taxed – Who are the beneficiaries?
Companies whose gross revenue for the 2023 fiscal year comes from at least 75% of the economic activities mentioned above are required to pay the Temporary Solidarity Contribution.
According to the announcement, the beneficiaries of the extraordinary economic aid in December amount to 1,899,000 citizens who will share around 243 million euros. In particular:
- 670,000 pensioners with a personal difference of more than 10 euros. The amount will be 200 euros for the sum of the main pensions up to 700 euros, 150 euros for the sum of the main pensions from 700.1 to 1,100 euros and 100 euros for the sum of the main pensions from 1,100.1 to 1,600 euros). It should be noted that of the total of 1.2 million pensioners who “acquired” a positive personal difference in the first recalculation of pensions in 2019 with the Katrougalou law, almost 540,000 managed to reduce it to 100%. Pensioners who eliminate the personal difference will receive an increase of between 2.2%-2.5% by 2025, depending on the course of inflation and the growth rate of the Greek economy.
- 767,000 child benefit recipients to receive additional payment
- 37 thousand beneficiaries of the extra-institutional subsidy and other disability subsidies of e-EFKA who will receive 200 euros.
- 185,000 beneficiaries of the OPECA disability allowance will also receive 200 euros
- around 35,000 uninsured elderly people from OPECA who will raise 200 euros
- more than 200 thousand beneficiaries of the Guaranteed Minimum Income will receive a 50% increase
