Is Lizzo an Ozempic girl? We’ll let her answer that for herself.
Although Lizzo has faced body shaming trolls many times before, these insidious evils in our society love to take new forms.
A form of body shaming can occur even after someone loses weight.
In this case, the weirdos in Lizzo’s mentions are accusing her of using Ozempic to lose weight. She’s putting them in their place.
Did Lizzo use Ozempic to lose weight? (No)
Under one of Lizzo’s recent Instagram posts, which you can see below, one commenter wrote: “she used ozempic or snorted cocaine.”
Ozempic is a brand name for semaglutide injections. This life-saving medicine for patients with diabetes it can also slow down metabolism and therefore have controversially became a luxury weight loss method for the wealthy.
Cocaine can cause weight loss (or weight gain) as the illegal stimulant can suppress your appetite by effectively rewriting your brain’s pleasure and reward functions.
Naturally, publicly responding to an Instagram post with Ozempic’s accusations is an unbalanced behavior. And, with rare exceptionsis intentionally insulting.
“Whyyyy do you follow me?” Lizzo responded the next day. That’s an excellent question. Except in situations like academic research or work, why would anyone follow someone they clearly dislike?
In Lizzo’s case, some people follow her simply because her existence infuriates them. They vent their frustrations in their own lives by saying mean things to and about her. It makes them feel better—and they have hopemake her feel worse.
No, Lizzo Didn’t Use Ozempic for Luxury Weight Loss
On Saturday, September 21, two days after the comment, Lizzo paraphrased the troll’s question in a meme font created for mockery.
“’OZeMpIc or cOkE?’ – a fan,” Lizzo captioned her post. Instagram post. This time, she had more to share.
His tongue-in-cheek video included an on-screen caption: “When you finally get the Ozempic claims after 5 months of weight training and a calorie deficit.”
When thousands of cruel idiots are hurling insults at you every day on the internet, it helps to put a positive spin on things.
Lizzo joked in her post that these cruel advances were actually “like a reward” because she spent months working out at the gym.
Several followers were quick to praise Lizzo for her response to the nasty troll. And, of course, for all the effort she put into her body transformation.
Why are semaglutide injections controversial?
Using Ozempic or similar luxury weight loss medications is not as simple as it sounds. The appetite suppressant effects go away as soon as someone stops taking it.
The long-term effects of using these drugs in this way remain unknown. And the known side effects making many believe that starving themselves using injections is not the best option.
But the real controversy comes from the fact that this is a medication. Diabetes patients have struggled to get refills of a medication they to need so that some rich people can lose weight while getting the vaccines.
So asking if someone is using Ozempic isn’t even a backhanded compliment. It feels like an accusation. Like an insult.
