Regarding the history of the case, in November 2014, officers from the DI.AS Team saw two people riding a motorcycle who, in order to avoid control, developed speed.
During the ensuing chase, the passenger fired five shots at the officers with a combat rifle, which he had hidden inside his jacket.
The motorcycle then swerved and the passenger managed to escape, while his accomplice, aged 43, the driver of the motorcycle, was arrested.
A search of the area resulted in the seizure of motorcycling equipment (motorcycling helmet, pair of gloves and full-face hood, which contained sections of adhesive tape), as well as a military rifle with a cartridge in the chamber and a magazine with 23 rounds.
In this case, a case was filed by the Northeast Attica Security Sub-Directorate for attempted murder with the complicity of particularly dangerous perpetrators, as well as for violation of the Weapons Law, which was submitted to the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2014.
From the subsequent collection and evaluation of more recent information, it was found that the 41-year-old man was a passenger on the motorcycle and an arrest warrant was issued against him.
During the search that followed at his home, several digital traces were seized, while the laboratory examination of the biological material, collected from the 41-year-old by order of the competent Investigator, revealed that he was the person sought.
The 41-year-old man had previously called authorities for similar crimes.
The detained person was brought before the competent Prosecutor and then before an investigator, after which he was given a period to present an apology.
