A police officer and at least one passenger were injured at a New York City subway station when police opened fire on a man allegedly brandishing a knife … and the intense scene was all captured on body camera.
In footage from last Sunday in Brooklyn… police can be heard yelling at a man to “drop the knife” he’s holding — a long, dangerous-looking blade — and tasing him several times, to no avail, before he began chasing the officer, resulting in him being shot multiple times.
The suspect…still holding the knife with a look of disbelief on his face…falls to the ground with blood beginning to pool around him, as one of the officers yells that he has been hit by one of the shots.
Another bystander was also shot in the head, police said. New York Post. His family has since criticized the police for opening fire in what they considered a reckless manner.
Mayor Eric Adams released a statement Friday night … in which it offered condolences to the “innocent bystanders” involved, adding in part: “we are praying for his speedy recovery.”
The suspect survived the shooting … and has been charged with attempted assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, according to the Post.
