The Athens Stock Exchange may have closed Thursday at the highest level of the day (1,428 units), but investors are by no means satisfied with the performance of the General Index.
After all, let’s not forget that while the Greek market recorded daily gains of just 0.63%, the Stoxx 600 in Europe ended above 521 points and the Dow Jones in the US broke the historic record of 42,000 units.
Somehow, the euphoria of the Federal Reserve’s aggressive 50 basis point interest rate cut has just “touched” Athens, which continues to autonomous course of prolonged stagnation and reticence.
Certainly, this constant underperformance relative to the outside is related to the developments that will follow in the next period of time, given that the market must find liquidityin order to “cover” the introduction of the Bank of Cyprus, the placement of the FEFG in the National, but also the AMC of Cenergy.
At the same time, although the strong profitability has already been discounted, the absence of new “catalysts” plays a fundamental role in this lateral movement of the General Index, which 27 consecutive meetings move in the range of 1,400 – 1,450 units.
