Zach Bryan has become the latest celebrity to clash with Taylor Swift Fans after an ill-advised tweet.
And as with so many Taylor-related controversies, Kanye West is also involved in this story.
The trouble started when Zach made the typical mistake of drinking and tweeting.
Zach Bryan’s Tweets About Taylor Swift Spark Backlash
The rising country star started innocently enough by declaring his preference for the Philadelphia Eagles over Kansas City Chiefs by Travis Kelce.
“eagles > chiefs,” Zach wrote, according to Us Weekly. He then got a little more personal, tweeting, “Kanye > Taylor… Who’s with me.”
Obviously, this is a bit of a touchy subject, given Taylor’s long history with Kanye.
Swifties Sound Off
It’s no surprise that Zach immediately experienced the wrath of Taylor’s famously loyal fanbase.
Possibly as a result of the backlash, he later clarified that he has no enmity with the world’s most famous musician.
“Guys, I love Taylor,” Zach explained.
“(I) was listening to the TTPD last night and ‘Thank you Aimee‘ came along and I drunk tweeted about Kanye. If anyone took it seriously, please know that I love both artists very much and I think we’re in a really beautiful moment in music.”
The song in question is believed to be a diss track aimed at Kanye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. This may explain why the fight was on Zach’s mind.
He further explained the matter in an Instagram story that surfaced last night.
“
“For the record guys, I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night. I was drunk comparing two records and it came out wrong,” Zach wrote.
“I know there’s a lot of stuff hanging over Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and I pray you guys know I’m human and I tweet stupid things often.”
Zach Ends With X
Zach went on to explain that he’s taking a break from X (formerly Twitter) because it “gets me in too much trouble,” adding, “I apologize to all the Taylor fans I’ve upset or disappointed. I love you guys and I’m doing my best!”
Zach later posted a second story, in which he explained that he is “going through a tough time” and may have “projected a little bit” in his initial post.
“I respect (Taylor) so much as a musician that the last thing I want is for people to think I don’t appreciate and love what she has done for music,” he wrote, concluding:
“Don’t drink and tweet. Don’t drink and tweet!!”
Regardless of your feelings about Zach or this situation, surely we can all agree that this is sound advice!
