Phaedra Parks is excited about her long-awaited return to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” — and assures followers the cast shakeup was worth it!
“We got some new girls who are just fireworks,” she fully informed Page Six after making her debut on season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars” on Tuesday night.
“They shook the solid, however, it’s without a doubt… it’s a great factor, it’s a great factor! I feel like people are really going to like it.”
Parks raved that she had a “fantastic” time reuniting with stars like Porsha Williams and Cynthia Bailey, who are also returning for season 16 as full-time cast members and as “friends,” respectively.
“I mean, the gumbo is gumbo-ing once again,” Parks, 50, teased. “So the Titanic, honey, is the love boat, now. It’s coming back.”
Along with some familiar faces from “RHOA,” the new season may even feature Kelli Ferrell, Brittany Eady, and Angela Oakley as full-time cast members. Shamea Morton Mwangi, who was previously a “friend,” has also been promoted to housewife.
While it’s unclear how long fans should wait to see Parks return to the beloved Bravo franchise, they will get their Parks fix on the current season of “DWTS.”
She and her professional accomplice — reigning mirrorball champion Val Chmerkovskiy — made their debut during opening night on Tuesday, dancing a cha cha to Whitney Houston’s “I’m Each Girl.” The duo received a mixed 19/30 rating from the judges.
“I really feel superior! I mean, we were practicing, and I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into, but I have an amazing instructor here. He’s amazing,” Parks told us just moments after the first live show ended.
“He’s just very personable, which has been really nice, and I really like him, he’s cool.”
Fans have been eager to see Parks on the show for a long time. She spoke to Page Six about why now finally felt like the right time to lace up her dancing shoes.
“You know, this has been like a 12 months of ‘of course.’ I did ‘The Traitors,’ which is actually out of my repertoire, but I said ‘of course’ for that. And that’s considered one of my mom’s favorite shows, too. So mom’s watching,” she shared, noting that Chmerkovskiy, 38, is “mommy’s favorite” professional.
“She knows he’s a winner, so she says, ‘You’re in good hands.’”
As for Chmerkovskiy, he informed us that he is “excited to be back” after a lucrative Season 32 with Xochitl Gomez. He referred to his new partner, Parks, as “amazing” and praised their partnership as being “special.”
“I just want to show off this gorgeous girl and have a lot of fun doing it!” he exclaimed.
As previously reported, Parks has been private and busy with reality TV ventures over the past two years. Her followers were thrilled, however, when she confirmed that she would be returning for season 16 of “RHOA” in July after a six-season absence.
“You referred to. I replied #RHOA #S16,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, sharing an image of herself holding the franchise’s signature peach.
Bravo has not yet announced a premiere date for “Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 16. In the meantime, fans can watch Parks and Chmerkovskiy on “Dancing With the Stars,” which airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.
